Please do not give a pet as a surprise present, make sure
the person who will be responsible for the pet, knows what they are letting
themselves in for, pets are a full time commitment and can be expensive to keep,
think about buying pet insurance
in case something goes wrong.

Request from Journalist:
Have you ever given away or sold your dog (thinking it's for the best) - only to realise afterwards that you can't bear to be without him or her?
I'm writing a story for a national newspaper's feature pages and would love to speak to a woman owner who has found herself in this position and who has successfully had the pet returned to her.
Taking part in this article would simply involve a telephone chat with myself and photographs being taken of the owner with her pet. (The article is for 'women's pages' so would need to be with a female owner).
If you'd like to find out more, please don't hesitate to drop a line to me, Fiona Duffy, at fionaduffy@blueyonder.co.uk (ideally, before September 9 2008)
Thanks for reading and best wishes Fiona Duffy - Freelance Feature Writer
